Michelle Lujan Grisham Portrait (9/29):
In our Saturday Painters session, I finally finished my watercolor portrait of our congresswoman. I started it before we went to Alaska. I believe I will take a friend's suggestion and donate it for auction at a Democratic Party fund raiser. It has a mat, now I need to select a frame for it.

Painting Looser (9/28):
This morning, I finished my Koi watercolor. My references were photos I took at the Japanese Garden in Golden Gate Part in San Francisco.

Cooler Weather (9/26):
Blossom thinks its too cold outside now - she wants to sit inside under Mr Sunshines rays as they come through the windows in the morning.

Roses & Roadrunner (9/25):
It's good to be home with my roses and our neighborhood roadrunner. Soon, hot air balloons will be floating over our house. It's time again for the annual Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.

Chilly Mornings (9/24):

I found just the right place to hang the Moon Mask that we picked up on our cruise to Alaska. Even though it's color blends in with the wall but it looks good there. We need to expand our collection of Native-American art - this mask is a start. Yesterday, I picked up my paintings from the NM State Fair. I decided to hang my hollyhocks in the Saturday Painters exhibit at the La Mesa Church next month.
The weather is changing - some of the nicest benefits of colder weather setting in - is sleeping under a warm quilt and putting on my a soft heavy robe in the chilly mornings. It might even get chilly enough, some days, to wear a jacket.

Invitations to Three Exhibitions - Oct 4, 5 & 6 (9/22):
You are invited to three opening receptions for watercolor shows in early October. I have two watercolors in the NMWS Fall Exhibition which opens Friday, October 4th in the Fine Arts Gallery at Expo New Mexico. I'll also have one painting on display along with other artists from the "Saturday Painters Group" at the La Mesa Presbyterian Church. The opening is from 2 to 4 on Saturday, October 5th. Then on Sunday, October 6th - the Mississippi Grand National has an opening reception from 2 to 4. The exhibition is in the Mississippi Art Museum in Jackson, Mississippi. This is the 5th year in a row that I've been selected for the juried show in Mississippi.

New Watercolor (9/21):
This morning, I got a decent start on a new watercolor of Koi. I'm working from photo references that I took in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

Painting Sold

I got a message from the
NM State Fair that my
watercolor "Street Music"
has been sold

Home Sweet Home (9/18):
We got home just after midnight - slept till 9 am and finally turned my wifi on this morning. Seems like New Mexico got more rain in the two weeks we were gone that in all this year - Abq got over 3 inches - we had no idea what was going on back here being out of touch for ten days. Now it's time to unpack - pick up the mail and go get Blossom - wonder if she remembers us ?

San Francisco - Tomorrow Morning (9/16):
Calm seas as we sail back to San Francisco to catch our flight home to Albuquerque.

...

Butchart Gardens (9/15):
Having only a few hours in Canada - we decided to take in the famous Butchart Gardens. It was not a mistake - the hundreds of flower photos I took will turn into watercolors one day.

Another Day At Sea (9/14):
We have a full day at sea before we reach Beautiful British Victoria in Canada.

Friday - Tracy Arm Fjord (9/13):
This morning our ship cruised up the beautiful fjord named Tracy arm. The ship turned around when we reached the Sawyer Glacier. We were able to get up close to the face of the glacier. My bride and I ate breakfast while watching the glacier.

Breakfast as we Cruise:

We ate breakfast as we watched chunksd of the glacier float by our ship.

Skagway (9/12):
If it's Thursday - this must be Skagway. We did not take any tours in Skagway - all we did is walk around and shop, shop and shop. Since this is the end of the tourist season up here, almost everything is 50 % off.

Juneau (9/11):
Today, our ship was in Juneau - capitol of Alaska. We toured the Mendenhall Glacier, took the Tram to the top for a view of the city, and of course did more shopping.

Ketchikan (9/10):
Our first Port of Call is Ketchikan, Alaska. We spent most of our time ashore shopping. The weather was pleasent - we are really getting a break with the warm days here just as we did in San Francisco.

Dress To kill:

My beautiful bride all dressed up. How much more lucky could I get ?

First Full Day At Sea (9/8):
We are trying to get a photo of the two of us each day on our trip. This pic was shot with us on the Aft Deck of the ship.

Departing San Francisco:

This is a shot of my beautiful bride as we pass under the Golden Gate Bridge.

On Board:
The photo below was taken on board ship - before we set sail. The bay behind us is filled with all shorts of small vessels trying to get a close up look at the America's Cup race taking place in San Francisco.

The City By The Bay (9/7):
One of my favorite places in San Francisco is the Japanese Garden in Golden Gate Park. It's such a quiet and peaceful place to be. My bride took my photo in the garden with her new i-pod touch. She's beginning to really like her toy. Today we board our ship and sail for Alaska.

Day Exploring San Francisco (9/6):

After an early breakfast - we headed out to explore San Francisco. By mid-day we were in wine country tasting the local flavors. We finished the day with dinner on Fisherman's Wharf. The photo of me with my beautiful bride was taken in Golden Gate Park.

San Francisco (9/5):
What to do on the first day in San Francisco ? We go shopping of course. We checked into the Westin Saint Frances and then had a nice meal at a nearby restaurant. Next we walked around downtown - but, of course, mostly from one shoe store to another. That was yesterday, today we are having a big breakfast before taking a tour of the city - then, a trip to wine country - finishing the day at Fisherman's Wharf for dinner.

In The Air (9/4):
I'm posting this while flying to Los Angeles - on our way to San Francisco. The selections for the NMWS Fall Exhibition came in last night. Ted Nuttall selected two of my watercolors for the show.

Still In Love (9/2):
After all these years, we are still in love with each other. Below are photos we took of each other when we were at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, back in July. On our anniversary, August 31st, we celebrated simply by taking in a movie at a dollar theater. After seeing the "Lone Ranger", a movie we have been waiting for, we had dinner at Mimi's - LIFE IS GOOD.

Fifty Years In Love (9/1):

Fifty years ago, (August 31, 1963) I married a beautiful young lady. I still call her my bride. She is the love of my life - I am so lucky to have Frani in my life. Today we begin the next fifty years together.

CELEBRATION:
Today was a simple day of celebration of our anniversary - we took in the "Lone Ranger" at the dollar show - went shopping and finished the day with dinner at Mimi's. Simple things make life worthwhile. The movie theater was crowded. We both enjoyed the "Lone Ranger". The movie was a hoot - I did not expect it to be such a comedy - it was a hoot.
