Scholastic Art Awards (3/23):
Last night, there was a fantastic turnout for New Mexico's first Scholastic Arts Awards Presentation. Thanks to everyone involved. Gold, Silver & Honorable Mention Awards were presented. NMWS & RGAA also gave awards creative students.

Progress On My Rose (3/21):

I made some progress on my "White Rose" this morning. I removed the liquid mask protecting the white areas so I can now blend the colors and soften some edges.

Friendship Luncheon (3/17):

The docents at the Albuquerque Museum held our annual pot luck "Friendship Luncheon" today. Those of us who create our own art were able to put our creations on display. I took two of my watercolors. I also had an i-pod running with a slide show of other paintings of mine. My beautiful bride baked two wonderful cakes for the luncheon.

Welcome Viviana Elyse (3/16):
Two of my favorite students, Nate & Maggie, are now the proud parents of this adorable little girl Viviana Elyse. They are going to make great parents.

Homemade Reproductions (3/15):
I cut 15 new mats today to present the prints I'm doing on my new Epson 1430 Artisan inkjet printer. These are on quality watercolor paper for my printer. I'm putting each in plastic sleeves for protection. I'll consider selling them after I print several more.

New Watercolor Started (11/14):

I'm using the back of an old painting for this one. It's a sheet of handmade paper, from Taos, that I can't get anymore. I coated the back with gesso for my new painting.

Homemade Breakfast (3/11):

Here is what I call a quality homemade breakfast. Toasted English Muffins, Sausage Pattie, Fried Egg, cheese and of course - hashbrowns with green chili. Why can't I lose weight.

Balloons Over Our House (3/9):
A delightful surprise, this morning, as I ran around setting all our clocks to the correct time - We had hot air balloons over the house. They were also landing in the park behind our house.

NMWS Spring Workshops (3/8):
Two great watercolor workshop opportunities are coming soon. Check these workshops out and sign up before they are full. The New Mexico Watercolor Society has the best workshops.

Cropped My Painting (3/7):

I was not too happy with the way my newest Begonia watercolor was going - So, I use the rule "When in doubt, Crop". I'm also cutting back the rest of my roses today - My bride cuts the branches into little pieces for bagging - I'll take the bags to the Eagle Rock Center in a couple days.

New Printer (3/6):
Yesterday, my new photo printer arived. It's an Wireless Epson Artisan 1430. I set it up this morning and tested it out with a photo. It does beautiful photos. It also holds larger paper - up to 13 x 19 inches. I picked up the larger stock today. I printed a large copy of Giselle. I promised the young lady who posed for this painting that I'd give her a copy. The original watercolor is entered into the NMWS Spring Show.

...

Movie Days (3/5):

We took in two movies at the Dollar Show this week - Nebraska on Monday, and then Mandela on Wednesday. Next Monday we go to see "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" in 3D. Finally some decent movies are coming to the Dollar Shows.

A Nice Thank You Note (3/4):
I got a delightful Thank You note from the young lady I gave a Merit "cash" Award to in the APS Metro Art Exhibit. She did the watercolor of a red headed girl. She said it was much looser and bolder that he usual much tighter approach. I do hope she keeps expanding her approaches to painting. She complemented my watercolors on my website (the URL was on my check) she is a senior now and plans to attend college in Kansas.

Playing With My Camera (3/2):
Yesterday's watercolor meeting taught me to read the owners manual for my camera. Not much in the little book that came with my camera so I went on line for the full owners manual. I find out that my camera does have several settings for white balance and it lets me take panoramic shots. Since the top of our mountain got some snow today - I decided to shoot a few pics.

Photographing Your Art (3/1):
You missed a very professional explanation of taking digital photos of art work for submission into juried shows at today's NMWS meeting. It was great to see such a large turnout for today's presentation. George McCaul gave is great advice on submitting digital entries for juried shows.
