Rejected Again 3/16:
All
four of my entries were, for the second year now, not invited
(rejected) by the juror for Art at the Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Since I plan to be in the area sometime in May - I'll stop by to view
the show and see first hand what the juror was looking for. At least I
don't have to pay to ship my art.

3-D Paintings 3/10:
Each
Tuesday, Judy Hagg invites a different artist to teach a lesson at the
Palo Duro Senior Center in Albuquerque. Today I introduced painting in
3-D to a class. My 25 students painted on black paper using bright
colors of fluorescent tempera paint. When viewed through ChromaDepth
3-D Glasses the colors separate into layers and appear
three-dimensional. These glasses can be obtained at:

Spring & Balloons 3/8:
Right after I set all the clocks ahead this morning -
then, Blossom's bark alerted me to the balloon landing behind our house
- it must be spring if the balloons are back. |

Blossom Close-Up 3/6:
This morning, I finished my newest watercolor of "Blossom"
- she has yet to tell me if she likes it. I'm trying to paint looser
right now - more painterly that my last very tight painting. This
painting, matted, will fit into a 28 x 22 inch frame. |

Entering More Juried Shows 3/2:
Yesterday,
I entered three more juried watercolor shows. I found that every online
entry process was different - I now realize what a pain it is for
artists who have to jump through all those hoops. Perhaps I'll have at
least one watercolor accepted. If not, I've just donated my money to
support those watercolor societies. I'm already waiting for results
from the NMWS "Members Only" Spring Show and Art at the Center in
Overland Park, Kansas. I should have a good chance for getteng into
those shows. The three new entries are for the NWWS in Seattle, WA -
the NWS in San Pedro, CA - and Watercolor USA in Springfield, MO. I've
never gotten into any of those exhibitions before.

Father & Son 3/1:
I
finished my newest watercolor, yesterday, titled "Father & Son". I
worked from a photo I took while we eating breakfast in Sausalito,
California. That was the morning we were boarding our ship for Alaska.
I need to decide in about a week - which show to enter this painting
into.

New Watercolors Started:
I'm
starting two new watercolors this morning. I'm going to try to paint
looser in both of these. Each are on handmade paper that I coated with
gesso. I did my drawings with watercolor pencils. I assume the lines
will dissolve and melt as I paint - we will find out. I'm looking for
happy accidents as I proceed. Both are subjects I've painted before - a
close up view of my puppy Blossom and a beautiful young lady from the
La Mesa Church.
