My Bride's Smile 7/11:
Some
of my best memories of our recent cruise were the smiles on my bride's
face. Her are photos of her in Rome and in Gibraltar. That's our cruise
ship below in the harbor. We were in Gibraltar twice on the cruise. Our

Friday Painters Show 7/10:
Saturday

display at the Unitarian Church at Carlisle and Comanche until August

Santa Fe Folk Art Market 7/9:
We
drove up to the Santa Fe Folk Art Market this morning. Interested in
seeing the hundreds of artisians from around the world showing off
their creations. It was a warm but comfortable day in Santa Fe. As
usual the crowd was hugh making it difficult to see everything we
wanted to. This was the day to really mess up my diet. We started a
Dunkin Donuts on the drive up. After the market we ate at Tomasita's in
the Railyard district. Fantastic Classic Northere New Mexican food.

Painting Progress Today 7/8:
I
got far enough in painting today to take off the liquid mask from two
new watercolors. Now that the whites are exposed I can study them and
decide what to do next.

New Watercolor 7/7:
I'm
starting a new "Whitewater" painting today. I've got a new bottle of
liquid mask and this composition will use a lot of it. I'm painting on
300 lb Arches rough - actually it's the back side of a failed painting.
Isn't it great that watercolor paper has two sides.

"Reggae Reflections" 7/6:
I
just finished framing "Reggae Reflections" for whichever show it might
get into - NWS or NMWS. Of course I won't enter it into the second show
till it gets rejected from the first. I should hear from NWS around
August 15th - it time to roll over my entry into the NMWS Fall show.
It's in my biggest frame 30 x 37 inches - it's in a simple 4 inch white
mat.
My subject was a street musician in Curaçao (photo from one of our
cruises) - the reflections in his glasses are Frani and I. Sad to say
that his dreadlocks are not real - you can buy a hat with them
attached. I realized that later after looking closely at my photos
because I had bought one of the hats while we were there. But then,
viewers can make up their own stories.

Friday Painters Group 7/4:
I selected my two paintings to hang at the Unitarian
Church this Saturday. I picked two that were already framed to make
life easier on me. The exhibit is for artists who gather each Friday to
paint together at the church.

Entries for the NMWS Fall Exhibition:
I framed two paintings to enter into the NMWS Fall Exhibition.
I plan to enter a third one - but I'm waiting for it to be rejected
from the NWS show in San Pedro.

Painting Flowers 7/3:
I'm
getting back to paintings of flowers - they are so much more forgiving
than painting people. These are white Iris that I saw at the Sagebrush
Inn in Taos last month.

White Peonies 7/1:
This
morning, I finished my newest watercolor of "White Peonies". I took
photos at various stages of my painting. It's painted on a 1/2 sheet of
300 lb Arches Rough. It feels right to be painting flowers again. I
preserved the whites with liquid mask until the backgroung was complete.

Waterproof Camera:
Yesterday morning I tested out my new "water proof" camera in the
back yard to see how it works. Of course the real test will be in
water. I wanted one I could take on a float trip and not worry about it gerring ruined.
NWS:
I
decided to enter the National Watercolor Societies International
Exhibition - I know it's a long shot but then I buy lottery tickets
too. The entry deadline isn't until July 15 - the exhibit runs Oct 22 -
