Technology 9/28: Technology is a real pain when it fails to work. My so called "Smart TV" decided to not connect with my Wi-Fi so I had re-start everything just so we could watch a couple more episodes of "Longmier". Another tech issue today was trying to download balloon tickets. At least I was able to print out my tickets to ride the bus for the start of Balloon Fiesta on Saturday morning. I'll better be sure to charge the camera for Saturday - other days they will float over our house - if the wind is right. |
Watercolor Workshop 9/27: Students working away in Frank Ebert's watercolor workshop in the Fine Art's Gallery at Expo New Mexico. |
Rain Drops on Roses 9/19: I'm taking a break from painting people (Musicians). I decided to try a large watercolor of my roses for a change. I'm going to attemp to make the rain drops seem real. |
Blossom 9/18: Blossom loves to find the warm sunshine on these cool mornings. |
"Royal Street Trio" Finished 9/17: |
"Royal Street Trio" 9/16: I made more progress, today, on my watercolor "Royal Street Trio" in my Friday Painter's group. I might be able to complete it tomorrow when I'm painting with my Saturday group. I'm debating how to crop this image - but I can make that decision when it's finished. |
My September Roses 9/14: Cool evenings and an ocassional gentle rain have given my roses new life. I keep shooting photos daily - perhaps some will become watercolors later. |
"Jazz Clarinet" 9/12: I finished my newest watercolor of Doreen "Jazz Clarinet" - just another in my French Quarter Music series. Matted, this one will fit in a 22 x 28 inch frame. It is on 300 lb rough Arches - actually I painted on the back of an old painting that I wasn't happy with. |
Watercolor Demo 9/11: Yesterday, Dave Cook did the demo at the monthly NMWS meeting at the Albuquerque museum. Dave was president of NMWS about the time I joined the watercolor society over 12 years ago. |

Progress on a Simple Watercolor (9/9): I decided to attempt a less complicated painting of Doreen this time. I did the drawing early this morning before I went to my Friday Painter's group. I think, keeping it simple is the best approach. My resource photo shows all the hussel and bussel of the tourist behind Doreen on Royal Street in the French Quarter. Perhaps a better artist than me could handle putting in the background. Or, maybe I'll try it another day - the photo reference sure has the atmosphere of New Orleans correct. |
Royal Street Trio (9/8): Perhaps, I bit off too much trying to include all three in the same composition - time will tell. |

Royal Street Trio: I'm also painting a watercolor with three street musicians from NOLA. I going to need several quality entries for the next Western Federation. |
Framed New Paintings 9/5: Yesterday, I framed two of my more recent watercolors. One is a "White Iris" that I scribbled lines into the background. The other is my "French Quarter Violinist" from my series of street musicians from New Orleans. Of course, I had to unframe some older paintings to use the frames for my newer work. |
Progress On My Street Music Watercolors 9/3: I got a good start, yesterday, on my two new watercolors. They are both on full sheets of 300 lb Arches Rough. I'm much more comfortable painting large. I need to come up with something worth entering into Western Fed. The WFWS entry deadline is November 1st. |

Fifty-Three Years Together 9/1: Frani and I were married 53 years ago as of yesterday. I met my beautiful bride, our senior year, in High School. It's great to be married to your best friend and such a wonderful traveling companion. Frani shot that pic of me when we were in New Orleans. I took the photo of her in Colorado Springs. The fireworks are from the Isotopes baseball game we attended last Sunday here in Albuquerque. Click on the Photo Above for a Movie ... |
