Where My Watercolors Are Displayed
|

New Rose Watercolor 4/29: I started a new small rose painting this morning - I need a painting for the NMWS "Q-Cakes" exhibit - it will be in a 16 x 20 inch frame. I did the drawing this morning and the painted in our Saturday Painter's group. It's almost finished - the last thing I dia was remove the liquid friskit to expose the whites. |

My Watercolors 4/28:
|

Go Seniors 4/25: I conducted a watercolor workshop today at the Palo Duro Senior Center - they didn't require much instruction - just let them paint - brought photos of my roses for references. Of course I'm older than some of my students. Albuquerque as great senior centers - you can drop in for dinner, bingo, play pool, take a class, etc. |
||||||||||||
NMWS Party 4/24: Last Night, our watercolor society got together at Jim Terry's home for a great party - NMWS has a fantastic bunch of folks serving on the board and various committees. |
||||||||||||
Ben Ray Lujan 4/23: Yesterday, I attended a fund raiser for Congressman Ben Ray Lujan at Linda Allison's house in Rio Rancho - about 50 people attended the event. |
||||||||||||
Painting The Brooklyn Bridge 4/22: I made a bit of progress, this morning, on my watercolor of the "Brooklyn Bridge". |
||||||||||||
Art of the Flower 4/21: Here are my entries for "Art of the Flower" at the New Mexico Art League - My Roses are in 20 x 16 inch frames - my own roses from our backyard. The "Flower Lady" is almost a full sheet. We saw these flower ladies, a few years back, at a market in Seattle. |
||||||||||||
Back Yard Work 4/20: My first roses at starting to bloom. From the look of the bushes, I'm going to have a bumper crop for roses this year. We also got tried of putting plants between our flag stones - so, we opted for glass. I did not buy enough so 6 more bags are on order. |

"Young Strings" 4/15: I finally finished my watercolor from last years Albuquerque Youth Symphony concert. The young musicians were preforming a Christmas concert - I remember they played a wonderful version of "Christmas in Sarajevo". My painting "Young Strings" shows two of the lead Cello players. |
||||||||
Another Entry 4/13: Gotta take a chance - I just entered my watercolor "Street Vocal" into the 2017 NWS INTERNATIONAL OPEN EXHIBITION - Registration Open: April 1 - May 19 at Noon (PDT) |

JK Drummond Workshop 4/12: Jae Drummond is doing the watercolor workshop at MasterWorks this week. Fourteen lucky students are learning a lot from a fantastic instructor. |
MasterWorks of New Mexico 4/10: MasterWorks is a tough show to get selected for because there are only 47 watercolors in the show. |
Young Strings 4/7: This morning, I made some more progress on my newest watercolor "Young Strings". I'll work on it some more tomorrow. |
My Brides Cross Stitch 4/6: She sews while I drive accross the country. She sews when we fly and she worked on this desigh on our last two cruises. |

Santa Fe 4/4: We were planning on driving up to Santa Fe today- but, the predicted low is 22 with a high of 43 with 1 to 3 inches of snow. I guess we will wait a couple days. Yesterday we took in another dollar movie. "Hidden Figures" tells the incredible untold story of Katherine Jonson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) – brilliant African-American women working at NASA who served as the brains behind the launch into orbit of astronaut John Glenn, a stunning achievement that turned around the Space Race. The visionary trio crossed all gender and racial line and inspired generations. Rather
than John Glenn, these ladies "Colored Computers" were the real heros.
But their story took many years to finally surface. John Glenn went on
to be a US Senator and even try a run for president. Glenn delivered
the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in 1976. He
was even considered for vice president. I remember talking to him in
1984 when he was considering a serious bid for the Democratic
nomination. But, As it turned out, Glenn’s bid for nomination as a
pro-defense centrist
and all-American hero sputtered badly. Moderates and liberals like
myself found a younger
alternative in Colorado Senator Gary Hart. I still have my Gary Hart
bumper stickers.

A New Governor 4/3: Yesterday I attended an event at the Albuquerque Museum to officially launch Michelle Lujan Grisham's run for governor. Michelle is running for Governor of New Mexico in 2018 and says that she will work every day of this campaign to earn our trust, support and our votes. Check out her announcement video and share it with your friends. |
Bragging Rights 4/2: Luck must be on my side, at least for now. I had five watercolors witch were selected into four different juried exhibitions in May and April. My "Clarinet NOLA" is in the current MasterWorks of New Mexico Exhibit. A different watercolor of the same title "Clarinet NOLA" is in Kansas City for the Art at the Center's National Juried Exhibition in Overland Park, Kansas. Then, in next months NMWS Members Only Show - I had two pieces accepted: "Faux Poppies" and "Youmg Rock Climbers". Best of all, I got my watercolor, "Reggae Reflections", accepted into the Louisiana Watercolor Socities International Exhibition in New Orleans. |

MasterWorks of New Mexico 4/1: MasterWorks reception and awards was last night. My watercolor of "Clarinet NOLA" is in the show and even made the postcard - I've also posted the events schedule below. |
