June 22 - Church Window: At the silent auction in Taos, I was delighted to get the watercolor of the Ranchos Church Window created by my friend Ken Hartma. Ken did it as a demo at the watercolor workshop last week. It is framed in our home now. Back in 1987 (my 3rd year in Taos) I painted a similar window on the other side of the church. |
June 13 - Painting Adobe: One morning, Ken Hartman did a demo painting at the Ranchos Church. Some artists stayed to paint at the church. Jason Becker road his bike over to see what has happening. |
June 12 - Art Critique: One afternoon, we each displayed one painting for a critique by other artists. Our critiques were written on a form in front of each painting. That's my watercolor "Barber's Inc" being critiqued in front of my room. |
June 11 - My Watercolors: Here are the paintings I completed while painting at the Sagebrush Inn. |
June 10 - Millicent Rogers Museum: One morning we went out to the Millicent Rogers Museum on the edge of Taos. Before lunch and painting, we had an excellent tour of the museum. |
June 9 - Watercolor Workshop: Since 1985 - I've been driving to Taos Mew Mexico (that's 33 years) to paint watercolors at the Sagebrush Inn. Many of the same articts return every year. We spend many hours visiting over a glass of wine, enjoying fine food, and sometimes painting. The photo below is from a bring and brag session one morning after breakfast. I was so glad it was close to the coffee. |
June 8 - My Week In Taos: Every June I drive to Taos, New Mexico for a watercolor workshop. This year we began our week with at Ghost Ranch tour of areas that Georgia Okeeffe painted and then a tour of her studio in Abiquiu. |
June 7 - "Hot Painting": This morning, I finished my "Hot Painting" to take to Taos - I'll be at the Sagebrush Inn Saturday - after spending most of my day in Abiquiu - looking forward to seeing old friends again. |
June 2 - "Making Tortillas": Most of the restaurants in San Diego's Old Town made fresh Tortillas. I shot some photos through the window of one cafe. I hope I can capture the feeling of reflections in the glass. |
June 1 - Drawings For Taos: I'm doing a few drawings to take to Taos so I will get a headstart on my annual week at the Sagebrush Inn. The one I did this morning "Old Town Drummer" is from the time we spent in San Diego. Cinco de Mayo in San Diego's Old Town was full of ideas for new paintings. Earlier this morning, was the June meeting of the New Mexico Watercolopr Society. This month was "New Members" show and tell. We learned more about eight new members and got to see their work. |
