December 30 - After 40 Years: We had a delightful visit yesterday from a student I haven't seen in 40 years. Jay and her friend Molly were in New Mexico and stoped by to see my bride and I. It's fantastic to see your former students blossom into such supper individuals. I hope she enjoys the rest of her visit to the land of enchantment. I have not seen Jay since she was 15. |
December 29 - Sculpture: Our son Jimmy was here for Christmas - yesterday we stopped to check out sculpture near our house. We have driven past this place for years and never stopped to look at these creations till now. Perhaps we need one for our yard. |
December 25 - Christmas Present in Space: Successful deployment of the James Webb this morning - this live photo shows it in space - the small image on the right shows the solar panel opened up - the telescope now moves to it's eventual orbit a million miles away from earth - several more steps are needed to unfold the many sections of the telescope before it becomes active. |
December 24 - Old Town: We enjoyed our walk around Old Town and dinner with our first born at Church Street Cafe - a nice way to spend Christmas Eve. |
December 21 - Western Fed: These are my entries into the (WFWS 2022) Western Federation of Watercolor Socities. The exhibition is hosted by New Mexico this year - so, I encourage all NMWS members to enter so we can show the wide range of talent across our state. Because the show is using "Art Call" for the entry process - I can change my entries anytime before the January 10th deadline. |
December 20 - MasterWorks Entries: These are the three watercolors that I'm entering into MasterWorks of New Mexico for the exhibition in March of 2022. |
December 19 - Yesterdays Full Moon: Last night I took more photos of the full moon as it rose over our mountain. |
December 18 - Portraits: Worked on a portrait of a young lady this morning - not quite finished - I'll finish it tomorrow. |
December 17 - Watercolor Society Demos: Ric Dentinger will be doing a demo for NMWS members at our meeting on Saturday January 8. Ric has been painting and illustrating professionally for over 30 years while successfully balancing a career as an art director and managing his own graphic design shop. Born in La Rochelle, France, Dentinger was raised in a military family that lived in several locations in Europe and the United States, currently he resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From a very young age, Dentinger was obsessed with drawing and painting. He attended the Warren Hunter School of Fine Arts in San Antonio, where he focused primarily on watercolor painting. He has great admiration for the art of Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, Edgar Degas and Anders Zorn. |
December 16 - City Arts Board: Yesterday was the December ZOOM meeting of the Albuquerque Arts Board - I'm currently serving my second team as the disrtict 4 member. Districts 1 & 2 seats are currently vacant - if you would like to serve on this important board for Albuquerque then contact your city council person and put your name forward. Art in our beautiful city needs good citizens to step forward and promote the arts. |
December 15 - New Portrait: I did a drawing for a new portrait today - I'll start painting this Friday with my friends. |
December 14 - Blossom: Our little Blossom is now grown up - Now, she gets to grow older with us. |
December 13 - Green Chili Gerrymander: Turning our state back to solid blue should be done by educating the voters rather than moving the lines. |
December 8 - Blossom: Blossom got a bath today to get ready for the Holiday Season. She loves her bean bag bed in the living room. |
December 7 - Christmas Cactus: Our Christmas Cactus are blooming right on time this year. |
December 6 - New Drawings: I've got new drawings on 1/2 sheets of 300 lb Arches for a watercolor workshop I'm taking in a few days. |
December 5 - Christmas in Our Home: My bride put out a few of her Santas this Christmas. |
December 4 - NMWS Holiday Party: Today the NM Watercolor Society held it's annual Holiday Party - this year it was outside with masks on. We played "Art Bingo" ( I even won) We exchanged small paintings and packages of cookies. A BIG THANK YOU goes to the artists who organized the event. Mary Perkins went home with my "Poppy Painting". |
December 3 - Holiday Cheer: Our home now has Christmas Spirit Inside and Outside. |
December 2 - Getting Ready for Christmas: My bride and I have been busy getting the house ready for Christmas - even before Thanksgiving. |
December 1 - Holidays Are Here: I've been quite slow keeping my Blog up-to-date recently because I've been busy putting up Christmas Decorations inside and outside of our home. |
