October 31 - HALLOWEEN: Happy Halloween to everyone out there - our treats are ready for all the Ghouls, Ghosts & Goblins who visit us tonight |
October 30 - Good Progress: I'm impressed with the progress I made on my two new watercolors this morning. The textured "Gesso Juice" is creating lots of happy accidents. |
October 29 - New Gesso Juice Watercolors: This morning, I got a good start on two new watercolors. I started with a thick textured layer of "Gesso Juice". At this early stage they look like a real mess - but, I love the textures and all the happy accidents that I get to work with. There will be lots of fun tomorrow working these paintings out. |
October 24 - Fall Exhibit Over: Today everyone picked up their paintings from the NMWS Fall Exhibition |
October 23 - Finished: This morning, I finished my newest watercolor - "Balloon Fiesta". Now it's time to start another. |
October 22 - Progress: I made some progress on my "Balloon Fiesta" watercolor this morning - I plan to finish it tomorrow |
October 20 - My Watercolors: Congratulations: Your entry(s) Brother John II and Brother's Advice were both selected for Mark Arts National Watercolor Exhibition. Stephen Zhang was the juror of awards. The exhibition will be on view December 10, 2021 - January 29, 2022 in Mark Arts Glady's and Karl T. Wiedemann Gallery 1307 North Rock Road | Wichita, KS. I hope that you will be able to join us for an Opening Reception on Friday, December 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. |

Checking
my records - over the years every watercolor of mine accepted into the
Kansas National was a portrait - perhaps that is telling me something |
October 18 - Frani's Quilts: Ten of my Bride's Quilts are now posted for sale on ESPY: https://www.etsy.com/shop/QuiltandCollectibles thanks to the efforts of our daughter-in-law. Please check them out. |
October 16 - Finally, A New Watercolor: This is the progress, so far, on my newest watercolor. Yes, it's on a layer of Textured Gesso Juice. It was good to be painting with friends this morning. |
October 15 - Watercolor Show: Here is a peek at the NMWS Fall Exhibition - On Friday night we had small paintings on sale for the first time. We also had fantastic music played by a very talented group of young people. |
October 14 - Photos From My Demo: These are photos from the watercolor demo I did in Las Cruces on Oct 10th |
October 12 - Good To Be Home: It's good to wake up in Albuquerque and see our beautiful New Mexico Sunrise. |
October 10 - Las Cruces: I did a demo for artist in the Southern Chapter of the NM Watercolor Society. They have a great group down there - 240 miles South of Albuquerque. Afterwards, we went to dinner in old Mesilla - there was a 45 minute wait for dinner. While waiting my bride had time to shop for jewelry - who knew there would be a jewelry store in the restaurant ? Dinner at La Posta was fantastic. |
October 8 - Flagstaff: Our last stop on the way home was Flagstaff, Arizona. |
October 7 - GrandCanyon: Our last stop on the way home was at the GrandCanyon. We took in the fantastic view - took lots of photos - bought a cookbook and then headed for a night in Flagstaff, Arizona. |
October 6 - Last Day In The Magic Kingdom: The size of the crowds at Disneyland were beyond hugh. Perhaps because California schools were on a two week Fall Break. |
October 5 - California Adventure: Our second day was spent in "California Adventure" - we had planned to dine in the park but with the large crowds in was impossible to get a reservation - so we ate dinner outside of the park. |
October 4 - The Magic Kingdom: My favorite ride has always been "It's a Small World" - we were in Disneyland for three days and I road "It's a Small World" three times. I've never seen so many people at Disneyland before - We soon found out why - the schools were on a two week Fall Break. |
October 3 - Breakfast on the Road: Ham lovers will love stopping for breakfast in Ludlow for a hearty breakfast. In fact, we stopped there going to California and again on the way home. |
October 2 - Wigwam Motel: Here's a blast from the past - on old highway 66 on the Mother Road to California. |
October 1 - Trip To California: One detour on our way to Disneyland was to visit the old mining town of Oakman, Arizona. It was a very interesting side trip. |
