July 29 - From A Student: I posted a comment on Facebook about a favorite teacher of mine - I got this comment from a student of mine from years back. "Mine is forever you, Mr. Duncan. Wow Rosedale Middle School lol. I loved our classes and how you challenged our creativity and made it fun as well. I loved the masks we did and the tile carving, the covered wire sculptures that were Indigenous American inspired, the clay stuff was so awesome, and the plaster too. Wow so many good memories! That was a hard time in my little young life and your class was my silver lining. Your mustache was and still is the coolest lol Your patience and positivity stuck with me in some life lessons. You taught me there is more than one way to see beauty in the world and that is what art has always been to me. In many ways it's interpretation can be subjective and so can the way we all look at life. Up close Monet is a mess but as you step back to take a look at the whole picture those seemingly wild brush strokes become a masterpiece. Thank you Mr. Duncan for being authentically you and leaving quite the impression on us all." |
