Overnight in Dubai - UAE: Dubai was our next port. The excursion we signed up for was to visit the home of a native family. The "Emiratis" are the native population of the UAE. We went to a community outside of Dubai to visit the Al Mughni family. It was a fantastic home because the UAE fully suports the Emiratis population. The home was in Sharjah - quite a drive from Dubai. After a warm reception and a taste of the local cuisine - the ladies in our tour group got to try on local garments. After our visit with the Al Mughni family - we went to the "Blue Souk Market" in Sharjah. My bride got a real chance to shop. |
Day Two in Dubai: This morning we took a cab to a much larger Mall in Dubai. Dubai is a very wealthy city - so rich that you can bring your yacht to the mall to go shopping on take in a movie. ... |
Muscat, Oman: After Dubai, we headed to Oman. Here is where my bride discovered shopping paridise. The Souq here went on forever - Frani loves to shop. |
Aqaba, Jordan: Our next stop was in Jordan - More chances to shop. It's also the only professional photograph we bought outside the ship. |
Bayou Cafe & Steakhouse: Before our ship begins the transit of the Suez Canal we treated ourselves to dine in one of the speciality restaurants on the ship. We were entertained by folk music while we ate. ... |
Suez Canal: There are no locks in the Suez Canal - it's a sea level canal and it takes most of the day to get through it. ... |
Ashdod, Israel: The port in Israel is Ashdod - we spent the day exploring malls and museums in the city. ... |
Kusadasi, Turkey: Turkey is a shopping paradise for my beide. She loved shopping in this port of call. The first thing she bought when we left the ship was that green scarf coverning her head. She was not wearing it as respect of the culture - she bought the scarf because she said it was cold here. She would love to go back to Turkey to shop some more. |
