January 31:
I had a busy
morning - I finished one watercolor and framed several more. In the
NMWS Spring Show we can enter 3 large paintings and 3 small paintings
(80 sq inches or less). Now mine are all framed just in case something
gets in.

I got a good start
this morning on my new watercolor. I've tried to paint "Bird Girl"
before - perhaps this time I'll be successful. I saw this young lady
feeding birds in a park in Auckland, New Zealand several years ago.
Yes, I asked her father's permission to shoot the photos.

Recently
I've done several drawings for new watercolors. "Dueling Banjos",
"Christmas-NOLA" and "Royal Street Duo" should be fun. I will
have lots to paint over the rest of the month.

I finished my new
watercolor this morning of a street musician we saw in Auckland, New
Zealand while on our world cruise last year. The instrument in my new
watercolor is a Chinese Erhu 2 Stringed Violin.

January 6:
Today's Watercolor
Society meeting provided lots of ideas If you ever wanted to try
painting outside, but are a bit hesitant, Wendy Ahlm will present a
number of options and inspiration to help guide you. From a tiny
palette to a cart with a pod, and many options in between, Wendy will
demonstrate a variety of setups to paint in plein air. This
demonstration will also include tips to simplify big information from
outside into a painting.

Gallery One:
A large crowd
showed up for the official opening of "Gallery One" on the first floor
of City Hall tonight. The new gallery is the brain child of our Mayor
Tim Keller. We may be the only city in the country to have a mayor with
a degree in Art History.

January 4:
We drove up to Los
Alamos to pick up paintings today - I took this photo from a window in
the gallery. It's been a long time since I last drove in snow. It was
beautiful up in the mountains. On the way back we stopped at "Double
Take" in Santa Fe.

This morning
I got my painting ready for the WFWS exhibition in Arizona. It will be
shipped to Phoenix with the 13 other paintings by New Mexico artists to
be framed in Arizona.

January 1 - Happy New Year:
My Bride and I
spent the better part of today packing up most of our Christmas
decorations. As usual, on New Year's Eve (Last Night) we went to sleep
early. Our son, Jimmy, in Texas sent us videos of the celebration as he
saw it from his appartment in Dallas.
