Balloon Art: I'm starting on a new watercolor "Balloon Wave" I took the reference photo as they flew over our back yard last week. |
French Quarter Sounds: I finished my "Dreadlocks Tuba" my motivation was a photo I took in the French Quarter in New Orleans. |
Pink: This morning I finished my recent watercolor "Touch of Pink" it'a another one that fits a 20 x 16 inch frame. I was told that the background was to dark so I lifted out some shapes echoing the orchids |
Keeping Busy: My creative bride and I both seem to stay busy - while I paint she is piecing together dogs for a new quilt. She works in her sewing room and I paint in my very messy studio. |
WFWS Results: Results are in for WFWS 2025 (Western Federation of Watercolor Society) in West Texas. I had two entries rejected and one "Pink Flowers" put on a waiting list ? They will notify me if some one is disqualified which would put mine in this years show. I've been accepted into 4 previous WFWS exhibitions. Now that WFWS results are in - I know that I'll exhibit my "Orchids" in the New Mexico Watercolor Society Signature Exhibit at Weems Gallery. ... |
Dragon: Here are the steps I went through painting my "Dragon-Taiwan" - We saw lots of dragons on our last cruise. Click on the image to see the matted painting. |
Steps Along The Way: Here are the steps I went through creating my "Golden Temple Pond" - it's from reference photos I took in Japan. Click on the steps to view the finished painting. |
Progress This Morning: I made some progress on two new watercolors this morning - the "Golden Temple Pond" almost finished is from Japan. The "Dragon" I just started is from Taiwan. No Dodgers game till Sunday so perhaps I'll paint tonight. ... |
Hollyhocks: Here are the stages of my "Hollyhocks" today - I used a good deal of "Pebeo drawing gum" in this one - finally I'm painting flowers with out pink. |
Pink Orchids: Here are the steps I went through creating my "Pink Orchids" - I protected the edges of the flowers with "pebeo drawing gum" as a mask when I started. |
Last Balloons for 2024: It's great to just sit in our back yard in Albuquerque and enjoy the show. |
NMWS Permanent Collection: Members of the NMWS Permanent Collection Committee, Debbie Misgen, Woody Duncan, Jim Terry, and Debbie’s hubby Steve (whom Debbie Shanghaied for the day), spent most of Saturday, 22 Sep 2024, mounting PC paintings in their final locations on the walls of the new New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (Housing NM) facility on Jefferson Street NE. We think the paintings look great in that venue—any fine arts gallery would be proud to display the Collection! |
Saturday Painters: I was able to get decent starts on the backgrounds of both of these two new flower paintings. |
Sunrise With Balloons: This morning before I left to paint with my Saturday friends - the balloons came up at sunrise. I shot these photos with my I-Phone from my backyard. Our house is in the perfect location to watch the Hot-Air Balloons. |
Balloon Museum: We got to view this mornings balloons from the deck of the Balloon Museum. It's even better than watching the balloons from our backyard. I took about 150 photos with my i-phone and even took a few movies as well. |
Balloons October 6th: This morning the balloons headed over our house I had fun shooting pics from out back yard. Seneral went right over our house and a couple landed in the park behind our house. ... ... |
My Studio: I now have a small refrigerator in my studio - along with my microwave, my computer and printer I'm all set to relax and paint. ... |
"Equity, Diversity & Inclusion": Politics are in the air right now - and for some politicians "Equity, Diversity & Inclusion" are thrown about as dirty words. I have not been in a classroom for over 20 years now - I was fortunate to teach in an inner city school where "Equity, Diversity & Inclusion" was not only respected but encouraged. I can't imagine those three words not being in every teachers mind every day. I've attached photos of my middle school students back then creating self portraits. I enjoyed every day of 27 years teaching those wonderful students. ... |
Finished Last Month: I posted this on my September blog. Here are the steps I went through for my "Purple Orchids" this morning - I used quite a bit of liquid mask creating this one. I took my photo reference in Golden Gate Park in 2013. |
Butterfly Repaired Last Month: I posted this on my September blog. Thank You to Anne Cox and especially her husband Jim for fixing our butterfly so it can flap it's wings again. |
