Drawing Again:
I started a drawing for a new watercolor today "Guitar Santa Fe" - painting makes my new Knee feel better.

...

Amartllis:
I finished the watercolor of my brides Amaryllis - with this knee surgery it took lots of time to work on it. Painting is good therapy. I'm including the steps I went through this week.

...

Painting:
It feels good to be painting again

...

Henry Ossawa Tanner:
I remember the exhibition about Art of Henry Ossawa Tanner when I was teaching in Kansas City, Kansas. The Nelson Gallery did a great service by presenting this artist with deep roots from Kansas City, Kansas.

The Life and Art of Henry Ossawa Tanner (June 25-August 20, 1995) was a traveling exhibition showcasing work of the prolific African American painter, Henry Ossawa Tanner (1859-1937). Organized by the American Art Department at the Nelson-Atkins, in Kansas City, Missouri. An 110-page catalog was also compiled by Dr. Mosby to accompany the exhibit and sold out at the museum during the show’s run.

Upon discovering that Tanner and his direct family had affiliations with various religious and cultural communities of Kansas City–specifically the Fifth District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the Pierian Club (a study club for African American Women)–the museum worked with these and other local foundations to plan for the celebratory display of Tanner’s seminal works while placing an emphasis on shaping diverse exhibit-related community programming.

1995 was also the same year I attended The National Docent Symposium (NDS) held at the in Los Angeles. The NDS is a biennial event that brings together volunteer docents from North American museums. The Nelson Gallery sent a team of docents. I was invited to attend to describe a multi visit program the Nelson was doing with my students.

Thank You Frani:
My fantastic bride took me to "hong kong buffet" for dinner today - this is one of our favorite places to eat in Albuquerque.

...

Trumps tentacles are reaching out:
PBS says it is shutting down its office of diversity, equity and inclusion to comply with President Trump's executive order and firing the two executives brought on when the effort was begun in 2021. DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) is very important to building a just society - it's a shame to see it being used as a tool - so many people will get hurt by these "mean" changes.

...

MasterWorks My Rejects:
My three entries into MasterWorks of New Mexico were all rejected by the jurors - I'll have to enter these elsewhere.

...

Amaryllis:
My bride got an Amaryllis at Christmas, we slowly watch it bloom. I'm going to keep an eye on it to document it's progress.

......

Education:
As an "OLD" teacher (that's me in the photo about 30 years back) it's hard to believe that even Trump would get rid of the Dept of Education - perhaps the most important dept in the government. No matter what he gets done I know New Mexico will continue to provide services to our schools.

...

Out Of The House:
This morning the staples were removed from my knee - then my bride took me to Cracker Barrel for Pecan Pancakes - She knows how to take good care of me.

...

NMWS Spring Show:
This morning, I framed my three small watercolors for the NMWS Spring Exhibition - I'll need to wait on the jurors decisions now. I've already entered the three larger watercolors for our Spring Exhibition - those are the paintings I had in the Weem's gallery.

...

...

Deb Haaland:
Deb Haaland launches New Mexico governor campaign
Haaland would be the first Native American woman elected governor if she wins. Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham cannot run for a third straight term.

I've been backing her since before she ran for congress - this will be an important step for my adopted state of New Mexico.

...

Northern Exposure:
While I'm recuperating from knee surgery, I'm watching several episodes of a real classic "Northern Exposure" to pass the hours. This is a real view back into the past.

...

NGDB:
Nine days back, I had my right knee replaced - during my recovery I take my drugs, do my exercises and watch music from our younger days. Believe it the Dirt Band is still touring - perhaps one day we can attend another concert.

...

Layaway:
While I'm at home - watching TV, taking drugs, and working on PC - my bride is again driving everywhere - doing the shopping, picking up her framed cross stitch and stopping at Palms Trading Company to get our newest pot. (Like the 1st pot we bought 40 years ago - it's been on layaway) Way back then it was ten dollars each month.

...

Takeover:
Life is starting to look like a SNL skit. Trump is throwing everything at the wall in hope that something sticks. We never understood how anyone would vote for him. Now the country is getting what they voted for and more. He told us what he was going to do - and now it's begun - hold on for a long ride.

...

Thank You:
A big Thank You to Teresa Youngblood for the great job she did in stretching my brides very large cross stitch. Today we stopped by her shop to see it and pick out the frame. This is going to look fantastic in our home. It's about 6 1/2 foot long. My bride decided on a pink Frame.
