Just for my birthday in July:
Oscar Butler, a consummate talent in the realm of music, blends soulful melodies with witty lyricism and expert acoustic guitar prowess. As a singer, songwriter, and Delta-style guitarist, Oscar captivates audiences with his unique blend of charm and musical ingenuity. With a natural ease on stage, he effortlessly delivers his original compositions, infusing them with his often humorous take on life's twists and turns. With his exceptional skill set and magnetic stage presence, Oscar is undoubtedly poised to enrapture audiences on whatever stage he may grace.

Our City:
I'm proud of our city and especially Mayor Tim Keller.
Albuquerque  is fighting back on efforts to restrict diversity, equality and inclusion, which Keller said the city will continue promoting as Trump tries to crackdown on DEI programs across the country. Keller said he will keep offices like Equity and Inclusion and Civil Rights.
He also said the city plans to continue being a “sanctuary city,” which limits or denies cooperation with federal immigration authorities, prevents city resources from being used for immigration enforcement or for sharing information about an individual’s immigration status, unless legally required.
“We are not going to change now,” Keller said.

"Equity, Diversity & Inclusion":
Politics are in the air right now - and for some politicians "Equity, Diversity & Inclusion" are thrown about as dirty words. I have not been in a classroom for over 20 years now - I was fortunate to teach in an inner city school where "Equity, Diversity & Inclusion" was not only respected but encouraged. I can't imagine those three words not being in every teachers mind every day.
I've attached photos of my middle school students back then creating self portraits. I enjoyed every day of 27 years teaching those wonderful students.

Trump Changing History:
Will Trump change the statues in the nations capitol that represent each state ? WASHINGTON, D.C. - APRIL 19, 2018: A marble statue of Po'pay by native American artist Cliff Fragua stands in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. Po'pay was born circa 1630 in the San Juan Pueblo, in what is now the state of New Mexico. In 1680 he organized the Pueblo Revolt against the Spanish.

Painting Again:
This morning - I actually painted with my Saturday Painters group - I got a bit more done on my "Guitar Santa Fe". But the best thing was getting to talk to other artists today.

My Brides Talent:
My very talented bride had three more of her cross stitch pieces stretched the other day - so now we have more to frame.

Trumps Mean America:
Is this what American is becoming now ? An american girl with brain cancer reportedly deported while on way to Houston for treatment.
The 10-year-old girl along with her siblings and parents, who are from Mexico and had been living in Texas without legal status for more than a decade, were detained in early February at an immigration checkpoint in South Texas, according to the Texas Civil Rights Project.

All Education is on the chopping block:
NAEA, along with our partners in the Arts Education Alliance, have signed on to the Department of Education Protection Act, a bill that aims to shield the U.S. Department of Education from efforts to dismantle the agency by prohibiting the use of appropriated funds to decentralize, reduce the staffing level of, or alter the functionality of the Department.

Visual Arts, design, and media arts education is not expendable. It is a vital part of student learning—helping young people develop empathy, collaboration, and critical thinking skills that prepare them for life. Any restructuring of the Department of Education must not come at the cost of student access to the arts or the professional standing of art educators.

TAKE ACTION! Make sure YOUR state’s elected officials hear from you on visual arts education funding!

Our Next Governor:
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Deb Haaland has raised more than $2 million in the first month of her campaign from more than 30,000 donors, putting her on track to raise more than any candidate in New Mexico history in their first reporting period, her campaign announced Tuesday.

DISRESPECTFUL:
DISRESPECTFUL on the part of our nation
US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky clashed in an extraordinary shouting match in the Oval Office Friday, leaving efforts to end the war with Russia hanging in the balance.“You're either going to make a deal or we're out,”a furious Trump told Zelensky, as a meeting that was meant to ease tensions over the sudden US outreach to Russia ended up inflaming them.
This is a very sad way to treat the leader of another country - was this all set up for television ?

Amartllis:
Last month I finished the watercolor of my brides Amaryllis - with this knee surgery it took lots of time to work on it. Painting is good therapy. I'm including the steps I went through this weeOne day soon I'll get back to painting with friends.
